I've been picking up Urban Decay products for a few months, but haven't had time to haul them before now. Around the beginning of April my area got both an Ulta and a Sephora and I the fact that I no longer have to drive to Chicago to pick up makeup has made things very interesting for me! My poor husband is in hell.
For me it's been a dream! Last Christmas my local Dillard's department store got in a shipment of Too Faced products to sell for the holidays. When I saw them I had an absolute GIRLGASM! Seeing my excitement, several of the cosmetics department associates came over and asked me why I was so excited, had I heard of the brand, and have I used some of the products. How could it be that these professionals had no idea what Too Faced was?! It's not like Dillard's just hires anyone for those positions, they actually hire trained professionals, licensed estheticians and makeup artists! But none of them had ever heard of the brand, and company policy didn't allow them to put out testers as it wasn't a brand they were going to be carrying after the holiday. Flabbergasted, I finally bought a few things and then handed them over so that they could do some swatches and pray at the altar of Too Faced.
Anyhow, my point is that just a few short months ago I was a beauty addict without anyone to share my addiction with. The opening of both Sephora and Ulta has given me an opportunity to join with other like-minded friends who text me if they walk into Ulta and they're handing out free samples (and OMG did they EVER that first month!)or coupons. It's been wonderful!
Which brings me back again to Urban Decay and my collective haul. It all started with the Naked Palette...
I've never been a lover of neutrals, I prefer my colors bright and vibrant. But this palette with it's rich colors both in mattes and varying levels of shimmer has made me see things in a whole differeny way. There is beauty in beiges! Who knew?
From there we go to the Urban Decay sale on Hautelook. I love that website with every fiber of my being because while I have champagne wishes and caviar dreams, I'm actually quite frugal. Oh, I'll pay full price if I have to, but for me, the only thing better than high end cosmetics, is getting high end cosmetics at drug store prices! So when Hautelook had their sale and $18 eyeshadows were suddenly $5, I pounced like a cat on a mouse who's covered in catnip!
And those are just the eyeshadows! To see the rest of my Hautelook haul, you'll just have to watch the video!
Then finally we come to new queen of my collection. The thing that when I first pulled it out of the box made me want to start stroking it and calling it "my precious". The Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection. 15 brand new, never before released colors encased in a shiny, jeweled box of wonder and purple velvet. How I love her!
This is the kind of palette that I'm going to reach for again and again. Neutrals, vibrant saturated colors, and dark smoky loveliness all together in one fantastic package. Grab this and the rest of your face products and you're set to go off on vacation, it's that versatile. Or at least that's what other people can do. I seem to need to bring everything in my collection with me. I'm like the armed forces of makeup, I never leave a man behind!
Until the next entry...see ya Freaky People!
Nicely written with beautiful pics!
