Sample Box Wars- Starbox (June '12) Electric Eyes

Hey Freaky People!  My June Starbox finally came a few days ago and it does NOT disappoint!  The products are meant to be worn together to create a cat eye look, but the colors are beautiful and can be worn in so many ways.  This box included (these as usual are all full size) an eyeshadow in the color Caracature, a Diamondline eye liner in the color Myth, a Precision Eye Definer (felt tip eyeliner) in Black, and to help you put it all together a small precision eye brush (I would call this a pencil brush).  I'm wearing the products in the video and I love the light smoky eye look you can get with the kit.  I especially love the eye shadow because it has an almost color changing effect.  Depending on how the light hits it, it could look gray, green, or pink.  In the video I call it a smoky opal color and I think that description fits perfectly.

All of this for the $15 price tag of the Starbox is absolutely incredible!  While future boxes may also include hair product or accessories because of the new lines that Starlooks is launching, each Starbox is going to have a minimum of 2 full size Starlook's makeup products per month.  It's the perfect sample box for us makeup lovers out there!

Bobbi Brown- Instant Pretty Kit and FOTD!

Hey Freaky People!  I'm so happy to be able to make videos again!  This first one is about my very first Bobbi Brown purchase.  I figured I had to put on makeup to film anyways, so I might as well try it out before I returned it.  I was so upset when it came and it was so small for the price.  But sometimes you do get what you pay for, and I can't believe how such a pretty look can be achieved with such little product!  I'm keeping it for sure!

My kit is in Sand, which was the 2nd lightest color choice.  I am light with pink undertones.  In the presentation, Bobbi said that most people would need either the beige or natural (if they are tanned for summer).

Sample Box Wars Spolight- Beauty Army Jan/Feb "12

Hey Freaky People!  Here's the next installment of my Sample Box Wars Spotlights, this on the first two months of the new sample box company Beauty Army.  As a whole, I really enjoy these boxes.  I was very worried that month 2 would drop off in quality as other new companies have done but I haven't seen that at all.

Beauty Army is not the first company to say that they focus on luxurious packaging (Gogogirlfriend was a big fail on that one) but they absolutely deliver 100% and I've got to give them the prize for having the nicest sample box packaging out there.  I will find good uses for every single one of these boxes.

It's not all roses, though.  Beauty Army's sample sizes that are shown on their website when you choose your samples differed in a few cases in my second box and while I absolutely think the box is worth every penny, the differences in some cases are big.  One sample I got said the sample size was 1fl oz but it couldn't have been more than .25fl oz.  If they were so confident about their boxes, then why fudge the sample sizes so people would think that they were getting more for their money?  I guess because they thought no one would notice, and unfortunately I seem to be the only one that did!  But Beauty Army, if you're reading this...your boxes are really great so far, let them stand on their own merit.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++ #13 & #21 Review

Hey Freaky People!  I've got a new video up about some BB Cream that I recently purchased and am really enjoying.  My first foray into the world of Asian beauty treatments has been a good one and I'm really excited to try some more!  I know bb creams are catching on here, but from what I've been told and have read, they pale in comparison to their Asian counterparts and are more like a tinted moisturizer than a true bb cream.  Now that being said, there are at least 5 brands that have recently brought out their own versions of this magic cream so maybe one of them has finally gotten it right?  We'll have to see.  If you want to check out the Missha M Perfect BB Cream for yourselves, the US website is http://www.misshaus.com.

Have any of you tried this or any other bb cream?  How do you think they compare to regular foundation or tinted moisturizer?  And do you ever wonder why the Asian beauty market always gets the best products first?  No fair!

Sweet on Tarte! Holiday kits galore!

There are but few things in this world that I love more than quality cosmetics and a great deal! Combine the two and I'm a goner. I bought 6 out of the 9 holiday sets that Tarte offered this year. I haven't tallied up the final cost and I have no intention of doing so! I will pay it off slowly over time thanks to my QVC card and some easy pay options! I swear, even if I didn't love the holidays for a million other reasons, the beauty deals alone would be enough for me to make my season bright!

Lovely goodies from Urban Decay!

I've been picking up Urban Decay products for a few months, but haven't had time to haul them before now. Around the beginning of April my area got both an Ulta and a Sephora and I the fact that I no longer have to drive to Chicago to pick up makeup has made things very interesting for me! My poor husband is in hell.

For me it's been a dream! Last Christmas my local Dillard's department store got in a shipment of Too Faced products to sell for the holidays. When I saw them I had an absolute GIRLGASM! Seeing my excitement, several of the cosmetics department associates came over and asked me why I was so excited, had I heard of the brand, and have I used some of the products. How could it be that these professionals had no idea what Too Faced was?! It's not like Dillard's just hires anyone for those positions, they actually hire trained professionals, licensed estheticians and makeup artists! But none of them had ever heard of the brand, and company policy didn't allow them to put out testers as it wasn't a brand they were going to be carrying after the holiday. Flabbergasted, I finally bought a few things and then handed them over so that they could do some swatches and pray at the altar of Too Faced.

Anyhow, my point is that just a few short months ago I was a beauty addict without anyone to share my addiction with. The opening of both Sephora and Ulta has given me an opportunity to join with other like-minded friends who text me if they walk into Ulta and they're handing out free samples (and OMG did they EVER that first month!)or coupons. It's been wonderful!

Which brings me back again to Urban Decay and my collective haul. It all started with the Naked Palette...

My Nightly Experimental Swatches

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
So for the last 24 hours there's been a huge beauty event on QVC. I watched as much of it as I could, and tivo'd some for later because despite the fact that I want to buy everything I see, I can't, and just watching the experts put on makeup is enough for me to get inspiration and try to duplicate things with my own makeup.

The things I was intrigued by today were the Laura Geller Eye Rims, which won the award for best eyeliner. It's a baked marbleized product and it's mostly black with other colors mixed in. I didn't want to pay the high price so I went and found my marbleized shadows from Too Faced that I got from their vintage sale. Turns out, what I already have looks just as good as what I could see on the screen! Awesome for me because while I bought all eight of the Too Faced shadows because they were cheap, I'm ashamed to admit that I've never used them. Not even once! So I'm pretty stoked to be able to use them as eyeliners so I don't have to feel any more guilt.

Oddly enough, besides using shadow for liner, the other thing that caught my attention was the founder of Tarte, who actually uses liners in place of shadows! It was opposites day, I guess. So I started experimenting with my liners seeing which ones would make good shadows, and I found seven decent ones that are long lasting but give me enough time to blend them out. After I tried them on my arms I tried my face and I found I oculd do a sexy, smudged eye in less than 5 minutes, and that incldes the mascara!

So that's what this picture is....liners smudged as shadows and shadows wetted and smudged as liners. I like the way they look on my arm. I think I'll keep them there until morning to see how they last throughout the night.

Now that all that's out of the way, I must admit to something. I did break down and buy something today. I bought the New Beauty Test Tube which debuted last night. The products in it are INCREDIBLE! I can not wait to get it so I can make a Sample Box Wars video!
